Bridal Trends
Those beautiful ball gowns from the 1950’s have made their way into the Bridal Houses. Perhaps they are even more beautiful now….if that is possible? Our fabrics are more sophisticated and technologically enhanced. Our laces are more intricate and our beadwork is painstakingly magnificent. Our designs have mastered the art of draping and swathing, and our colours are no longer limited to white and ivory.
The change in Bridal fashion is a reflection of our evolving society. New processes in fibre technology and material workmanship are changing the face of Bridal. Today’s weddings can be anything from a simple ceremony, to a full-blown wedding with hundreds of guests.
This is why we at Sabrina Moda reflect the changing faces of our brides. We cater for the slinky, soft feminine beaded dresses, to the ‘PRINCESS’ Ball Gown. Our fabrics can be bias-cut beaded chiffons with handkerchief hemlines, and may feature ‘backless’ or ‘lace-up backs’. These are ver popular for the more casual wedding, and often something that can be worn again.
We also have the elegant ‘PRINCESS’ line gowns that offer embroidery and beading, often with or without trains. The swathing and draping is still very popular, and very flattering to the figure when well constructed. Even a fuller figure can wear these gowns, and often the train can be bastled to make it easier through the coarse of a brides day.
Our next category is what I term the ‘PRINCESS BRIDE’. These gowns are luxurious with magnificent fabrics and techniques used to enhance the fabrics even more. There is often many metres of material and many laborious hours of hand-work. This may range from anything to a slinky-mermaid-cut gown to a full tulle gown with layers of material.
At Sabrina Moda we also offer our own range of gowns. Our first Debutante Range for 2006 was released at the start of 2006, and it outsold all our other Debutante Ranges. We are currently working on our new Bridal-Wear Range which offers the more unusual. Beautiful fabrics are mixed with fitted cuts and low backs with ruched treatment and trains flowing from a narrow point of a back feature. Many toilles (or calicos) are cut and re-cut to ensure the right fit and the most flattering cut to a female body. Trims are made from mixtures of laces, beads and anything that may be interesting. Mixing the refined with the quirky gives our designs a different look to all else. Our expertise in fitting and creating a unique look for your Wedding Day is a priority. So come and visit our Bridal Salon for a ‘LOOK OF A LIFETIME’.

FASHION TRENDS
The up and coming fashion trends are proving to be anything but dull! With new seasons stock fast approaching, the customers should be pleasantly surprised with what is in stall.
Sculptured jackets for Spring Racing will be a must have! Short bolero jackets teamed with slightly gathered sleeves are making a huge resurgence. So too are the ‘PEPLUM’ and satin trims for evening. The ‘Smoking Jacket’ is teamed with soft flowering part or the new long ‘Bermuda’ cuffed shorts. Mix and match items are a must with lots of tops/skirts/pants and jackets that can be layered. The dress is very ‘60’s’ with a large swirl and paisley prints, with lengths ranging from a ‘mini’ to knee length. But don’t stress – the mini can be worn as a ‘tunic’ over the Bermuda shorts, or a longer skirt! Longer lengths are seen for cocktail or evening-wear. The uneven hemline is still a huge look with lots of layering happening.
Base colours such as BLACK, WHITE, CHALK and PUTTY are teamed with bright such as ‘GRASS GREEN’ and ‘CORAL’. Fabrics are worked with embroidery, trims, motifs, feathers and beads. Man-made fibres are mixed with the natural fibres to offer the best of both worlds, to create a fabric that is often comfortable, crease-resistant and washable.
